Gert du Plessis Lampreacht was sentenced to death on September 9, 1955 in the Windhoek High Court for the murder of Martin Vermeulen. Here is his own testimony and, after it, the gripping story of the person who counseled him spiritually and accompanied him until the last moments before his execution.

A Lady who wished she was born blind! PDF Print E-mail

Fanny Crosby, the famous hymn writer considered it a blessing to be blind she was not born blind, but at the age of six weeks she had a minor cold in the eyes. The family physician was gone, and another man came and treated her with a mustard poultice on the eyes, permanently destroying her sight.

Instead of entering into litigation and a malpractice suit, as many would do today, her mother and grandmother (father died before her first birthday) chose instead to focus on teaching and helping Fanny to learn to know and love the Lord, so that she would have spiritual insight.

Later in life, Fanny wrote this poem:

Mercy and Grace PDF Print E-mail
What are the two most desperately needed things for every person?

Mercy and Grace.  If any think otherwise, it is because they do not know who and what they are.  They do just as the Bible states, "Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness"  (Prov 20:06).  Most people think they are good.  Listen to their explanations.  "I was born in a Christian home, went to church all my life, was baptised and read my Bible daily."  Or, "I may not be religious, but I have not murdered anyone and although I am not perfect, nobody is."  "I am better than the next person."

How Mary was converted, and Her Earings PDF Print E-mail

The Conversion of Mary, and Her Earrings

[The following account is extracted from a description and defense of Methodist Revivals, in History of Wesleyan Methodism, by George Smith; London: Charles H. Kelly, Fifth Edition, n.d., Vol. II, pp. 624-626.]

A strong, vigorous, and tolerably intelligent young woman was working at a mine in Cornwall. In company with many others, she was employed in breaking the copper ores with a hammer on an iron anvil. Mary—for that was her name—had heard of the revival in the neighbourhood, and turned all she had been told into ridicule, making herself and her companions exceedingly merry with the subject. She, however, had never attended any meeting, and consequently lacked the information necessary to give point and completeness to her profane jesting. This defect she resolved to remedy by going to the revival meeting in the evening, watching closely all that took place, and treasuring it up in her memory. She promised her companions to repeat all that was said, and mimic all the noises made, for their amusement the following day.

A Christmas Gift in Prison PDF Print E-mail

A Gift In Prison

Some years ago, while conducting a series of meetings in Michigan City, I was asked to preach to the inmates in the State prison. I sat on the platform with the warden of the prison and watched the prisoners march in--700 men, young and old. They marched in lock step, every man's hand on the shoulder of the man before him. At the word of command they sat down. Among that number there were seventy-six "lifers," men who had been committed to prison for life.

Are you a christian PDF Print E-mail

Are you a Christian?

Every man  ever born has a dept they cannot pay and chains they cannot break! The dept they cannot pay is for what they have done against God by breaking His Holy law! All of us have sinned in God's eyes. We have all lied or stolen or dishonored our parents in some way. This may be small in our eyes, but in God's Holy eyes it is worthy of the eternal flames of Hell. No amount of good works, religion ,baptism, prayer, Bible reading or experiences could ever take away the punishment deserved for even one lie.

Jan Harm - Witness

How I met the Lord Jesus (My witness that He lives)

Where do I come from?
I was born in the First Military Hospital the year 1982. I was in Wonderboom primary school and afterwards went to HTS John Vorster. I ended my time at school at Capital College.  Then I went to CTI and started working in Rosslyn as a programmer.

Where did it all start?
When I was 13 years old I listened to a song of Brian Adams: Summer of ’69. I said to myself: “This is the life that I would like to live.”
I started smoking marijuana when I was 15½ and by the time I reached 16½ I was 100% into drugs. The grace of God was upon me and I did not totally wreck my life then. By the time I reached 18 I was tired of living and had done most things to be done. I was part of the gothic scene and hanged out at the old Zeppelins. The first club I went to was "The Doors" in the centre of Jo’burg (it was the time when it was still a metal club). When I was 18½ the grace of the Lord Jesus started working in my life. I went through a tough time and God used that to show me that He is out there.
So I started seeking God…
