Will they who look to the Lord for bread Be given only a stone instead? Will they who praise and exalt His name With shining faces be put to shame?
Will those who trust in a carnal plan More blessing have than the humble man Who looks alone to the God of grace And trusts in Him for a higher place?
Won’t those who proudly a place assume In shame be moved to a lower room? But he who sits in the lowest chair Won’t he be bidden to rise from there?
Shall not the judge of the earth do right And answer those who in Him delight? Won’t He fulfill His own word to them To honor those who will honor Him?
Though none are worthy to thus be blessed, And I the least among all the rest, Won’t Jacob’s God still embrace the weak And give His blessing to those who seek? |
