Depth of mercy! can there be

Extended on a cursed tree,

To him of old allowed;

Happy soul that free from harms
Rests within his Shepherd's arms!

Hark! a voice divides the sky,
Happy are the faithful dead!

He comes! he comes! the Judge severe,
The seventh trumpet speaks him near;

Hearken to the solemn voice,
The awful midnight cry;

High above every name,
Jesus, the great I AM!

Ho! Every one that thirsts, draw nigh!

Holy Lamb, who thee receive,
Who in thee begin to live,

How can a sinner know
His sins on earth forgiven?

How do thy mercies close me round!
For ever be thy name adored!

How shall a lost sinner in pain
Recover his forfeited peace?
